What is Chinoiserie? 

Chinoiserie is a style of art, furniture, decoration, etc. that has Chinese or East Asian influences in the design. It was popular in Europe in the 18th century when explorers traveled to the far stretches of the Earth by sea.

Chinoiserie came about from European admiration from Chinese motifs and designs, especially Chinese provincial life, pagodas, floral patterns and shore birds among others.
